Whether it’s your bridal bouquet or a meaningful memorial arrangement, our goal at Pressed and Preserved is to transform your blooms into a lasting, beautiful reminder of the day or person they represent. In our very first blog post, we wanted to share the process we follow when preserving and framing your flowers. We truly do enjoy every step - and seeing the final piece come together is so rewarding. Here's what you can expect from our preservation process:

Step 1: Booking Your Preservation Date

Your floral keepsake starts with a simple step: booking your date. As timing is key (especially with fresh blooms), we recommend making an advance booking with us as soon as possible - ideally one month or more before your event. Once you're in our diary, we’ll get in touch to guide you through next steps for safely delivering or shipping your flowers to us.

Step 2: Assessing and Preparing the Flowers

When your flowers arrive, we carefully deconstruct the bouquet or floral arrangement and inspect each bloom to determine the best preservation method. For our shadow box displays, some flowers are air-dried traditionally, whilst others do much better drying in silica to retain colour, texture and shape. For pressed flower displays, larger blooms are carefully taken apart, petal by petal, ready for hand-pressing.

Step 3: Preservation

Once your florals are drying/pressing - we check on them every couple of days to ensure that everything is progressing as it should.

Step 4: Floral Design

After 4-6 weeks, your flowers are prepared for framing and reconstructed where necessary . The design stage involves carefully arranging the florals to showcase as many flowers as possible whilst also honouring the florist's original vision. We appreciate that your flowers are one-of-a-kind - and so is your style. You are able to share the overall look you'd like for your floral keepsake and select your chosen style during the booking process.

Step 5: The Finishing Touches and Framing

Every preserved arrangement is custom-made and completely personal. We offer personalised name plaques featuring names, dates, or a short quote - perfect for commemorating your wedding day or honouring a loved one. Once the layout is finalised, we frame your arrangement to protect and display it for years to come.

 Step 6: The Reveal

After many hours of careful craftsmanship, from preservation to framing the finished piece, your floral keepsake is ready to be delivered to you. Whether hung on a wall or displayed on a shelf, your keepsake is more than just a frame - it’s a memory, beautifully held in time. We truly hope that it serves as a lasting reminder of your special day or loved one for many, many years to come!

We’re always happy to chat if you have any queries, so please reach out to us anytime or connect with us on Instagram @pressed_and_preserved

Best wishes,

Laura and Janet x
